A few years ago I used to pass this old mini sitting rusting away and think that once upon a time, this car most likely would have been someone pride and joy. I always thought about taking a photo of it for some reason, so one day I did. The car has now gone most likely to the scrap....shame.

Its been two years since the last swap meet, but another is planned soon. Anyway I was drooling over this Morris Minor at the last one it brought back many memories of my mechanic days

I asked the car owner if I could take some photos of it, and he was fine with that

I once owned a 1954 and a 1957 "full screen on that one" back in the late 1960s and Yvonne had one here in NZ. The 1957 Morris I sold to an American from the Submarine base in Scotland. What surprised me was that after him owning it for two years, he came into the garage and told me it was the best car he had owned.

I am thoroughly enjoying this Forum post! I’ve never seen so many cool cars I’d love to own! Haha.

At one stage back in the late 1960s I did own a Mini Cooper, not the "S" shown in this film, but the one below that model. It went like little rocket. I still remember taking it up to 85mph in third on windy roads. I was a bit of a nut back then, not like now, chugging around within the speed limit

Anyway there was a film made in 1969 starring Michael Caine called "The Italian Job" which did more for the Mini Cooper sales than any other advertising. Its interesting they they still race the mini out here you can really throw it around, they are a brilliant little car

Here is a brilliant extract from the 1969 film "The Italian Job"

Anyone here ever owned a "Austin"? if so you might enjoy this selection of very early Austin films I up-loaded to you-tube just lately, all up, its about a hour and a half long, some very interesting stuff from the 1930s.

While I think that most already know, but for those that don’t, the original 3 hosts of the BBC’s show Top Gear (Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, James May), after departing the BBC created an almost identical clone of the show called The Grand Tour for Amazon Prime Video. They changed the format somewhat starting in the third season by dropping the live audience and doing theme based episodes. Last night I watched the season 4 episode titled Lochdown where they set out to discover why 1970’s American muscle cars never caught on in the UK. They took 3 overpowered 1970’s vintage American land yachts on a road trip from the northern most town in England through Scotland to an island off the northwest cost. Like the BBC original show, The Grand Tour is a lot of fun and great entertainment for gear heads.
