As I live on the north bank, there is only the Humber Bridge, a motorway and 35 minutes separating me from my projector and my next film purchase, then the answer is an emphatic YES !, but not staying over.

Unfortunately not this time. I had already booked a vintage television showing in Birmingham (with Patti Boulaye as guest) before, having miss estimated the date for this.

Have returned from Cleethorpes and Classic Home Cinema summer weekend,A good number of collectors turned up on Friday and some more on the Saturday, Some great Features on sale I bought Derann releases, 'Speed' for £300 and 'Silence of the Lambs' for £350, try getting those on E-bay for that sort of money. There was also numerous Derann Disney features up for grabs also at very reasonable prices, along with plenty of Disney shorts both on super 8 and 16mm.
of course they was plenty of other features and shorts from all the different distributers. The Friday night Fish and chip supper at Papas the sea food resturant on Cleethorpes pier was well attended and enjoyed by everyone including the drinks and chat in the lounge bar afterwards. Again on the Saturday night at Phil and Denise Sheards charming home the evening began with drinks and chat followed by a very nice chinese meal, followed by a lively quiz with plenty of prizes all generoursly supplied by Phil. To End the night we all trooped up to Phil's well appointed home cinema and enjoyed numerous 16mm shorts and cartoons all projected by well known collector Dave Locke. To end I would like to put on record our thanks to Phil and Denise for all their hard work and generosity throughout the weekend and to fellow collectors including Uncle Bob, Dave, Mike, Adrian, John, Simon, Melvin,Martin and any others who names escape me for
                  making the weekend so convivial.

I endorse David's report and applaud Phil, of Classic home cinema, for his tremendous efforts at underpinning the film collecting World, and continued commitment regarding new releases and Film Collector magazine.

Many a bargain was purchased at this sale weekend where attendees pored over what can only be described as a colossal amount of both 8 and 16mm film - all at affordable, realistic prices. And plenty in what would be considered 'top order'.

And to collectors not currently receiving sales lists, I would urge them to contact Classic home cinema.

My only thoughts would be for some of the widow's who face selling partners collections. Think on that dear friends it is the dark side of our hobby no one talks about.

A truism indeed, Mr Mannering. However, It could be said not as dark and deceitful as some ebay sellers, whose tat is occasionally hawked. I would highly recommend the few film dealers remaining, whereby after sales service and customer loyalty, thankfully remain. Food for thought, perhaps.

Makes me quite jealous, when I hear all of those monster titles! I wonder how much Roger" went for?

I'm a bit slow to do so, but I'll also endorse David's and Mike's words as it was a very enjoyable weekend, even though sunny Cleethorpes had more rain showers than usual! It's always a pleasure to come home with a bag of appealing films, including one or two rarities, despite not having spent a fortune! And some were free surprises, in view of Phil's generosity in providing abundant quiz prizes.

Although I'd agree that there's bound to be sadness associated with films becoming available as a result of a collector having passed away, I must say that when that day comes for me, I'd much prefer that my films go to 'good homes' where they will be enjoyed, rather than to a skip!

I had to miss this one due to booking for a vintage television event last weekend (and met someone I had been on stage at a charity event with and spoken to 30 years ago). Luckily I did manage Phil's May event this year, where it rained too, and had a good time there with a couple of good purchases then.
