  • Attention: Overseas optical sound super 8 projector owners

On the original forum, I remember a post in which it had a screenshot from the optical sound feature "Star Trek 4". What made it interesting to me was that it had not one, but two optical tracks, one on the left, one on the right. One track, Japanese, one track English. I also have a few optical sound films with two tracks as well. My question is, did the overseas optical sound projectors have "twin track" options? You know, you could switch from track 1 to track 2? Also, Doug, could you perchance find that photo on the old forum? It would have to be around 2005 or so.

Osi, the answer for Europe is no. I have also a few optical French prints with two soundtracks, one in English (on the "normal" side) and the other with the original sound in French. They are all ex Air France prints. The company had special projectors that had never been availaible for the individuals. None of those projectors have never surfaced since Air France stopped projecting super 8 so they probably ended in a bin. I didn't know there were also Japanese double optical soundtracks, so that gives a little hope, although I have never heard of a Japanese domestic projector capable of reading two optical tracks.

That's a good point, Dominique. These 2 track optical projectors may have only been made for the airlines.
