Buddy Rich is the reason my dad has been a drummer for over 40 years! Apart from his excellent drumming, I think the Bus tapes are legendary. Very few people could insult you like Buddy Rich could. haha.
Buddy Rich was a legend . Nobody in my opinion will ever replace his mastery of the drum kit. It was listening to BR in the 60s that got me fired up to learn , I played with a traditional jazz band , also rock and roll and blues band , that was many moons ago, and not pro, just weekends and functions to earn beer money, great times and I still love listening to all genres of music. Going back to BR he latterly had his own big band which he toured world wide, an absolute joy to watch and listen to. Like a lot of legends ,he left us too early!
