Is Darkman one of the most neglected film of the 90s?

Bit of a favorite of mine handled by Universal but the question is will we ever see a resto of it?
We seem to be seeing a monsoon of anything which contains retro computer animations being marginalised as they do not meet the 4K criteria. But in the day they were good enough to command 5 times the production box office yes?

Apparently the HD-DVD, 25gb Blu-ray, and the 2014 50gb blu-ray all used the same source. The 2014 release got the best review in terms of video quality, but still was substandard. The reviews mention the retro CGI, but are not negative about it. If Universal neglected the film, what we have now may be the best it will be.
