  • New Old Style Cine Projector.

Amazing machine built by a French amateur : Le projet de Denis: Fabrication d'un projecteur style année 20 à partir d'un chrono Pathé - YouTube. The video (made by forum member Pierre Mdihi !) is in French but I'm sure you will enjoy this projector.

    Very nice.
    A lot of hard work.
BUT why didn't he build it for 9.5mm with so much film available?

Maurice, Pierre is working on an article about this collector for Pierre's site (an example of an article) : Bernard's collection - Cinema of yesteryear (cinedantan.fr) The site is available in several languages.

            Re the video.
I am very surprised that any 35mm projectionist would run almost 2000 ft of film direct from a core, and not on a split spool.

Great stuff Dominique but watching that video of film running directly of a core like that is really not good idea. Its much better and certainly a "lot safer" using a actual film reel but in saying that, thanks for the link.

                I love that exposed shutter!

(I bet back when they were common, they claimed a more than a few fingers!)

He was not running the film natively off the core, but rather using a winding plate in back and a circular piece of plastic in the front making for a kind of homemade split reel. The film sticks out a little beyond the front plastic which should not cause any problems.

I, as do some other local collectors, do something similar. We run big 6K rolls on a core with just a 2K split reel to hold the center stable. Never had a problem, but of course the film was tight wound onto the core.

Note that this is for the feed, I would not take up this way. For that I use a big reel.

One correction suggested - the said Simplex projector on that page is in fact Japanese made Shinkyo projector, possibly model Super-GR. A little cute projector with good performance, suitable for light to moderate use as in this case.

Thanks you Nantawat for the information. If i remember correctly the projector is a mix of a simplex and an another projector which the owner doesn't know the name. The next time i will visit Bernard, I will check and change the information on the website.
                      Thanks again for the correction.

Don't hesitate to correct me because i'm a newbie. The purpose of this website is to share accurate informations about film and projector.
