  • Dementia

I wrestled whether I was going to post this or not but I pray it may help others in the future.

A short time ago I was diagnosed with Dementia which unfortunately has developed from many years battling my Epilepsy. Around 60% of Epileptics do develop Dementia usually in the 50's age group so I have done well being in the 60's bracket. Always an upside
At the moment we are coping with a touch of outside help here and there but like Epilepsy Dementia is one of those hidden diseases which I've often found hard to deal with thru life.

Anyway, we shall carry on and of course Dorun Films will continue until I can no longer properly function as I have another 22 releases planned for the next few years. Another plus is I can prepare every release in advance so all should happen in one way or another.

Making S8 films, collecting them and projecting has been one of the largest parts of my life and boy I have enjoyed every frame of it. Oh and also the projector modifications. Our film friends have been wonderful this last week and of course we have our Church.

Better get back to the sound dubbing

Please take every medicine that are doctor approved to stave this off and with any luck, there will be an actual cure for this before you completely succumb to it. It can be held off for quite awhile these days. I am sure that you are already changing diet and other things to slow the progress already. I had a grandparent who slowly succumbed to this, and it was hard to see this person that I loved slip away, but there is so much more that is known today than then. Our prayers are with you. Sincerely, the Osgood.

I send my every best wishes to you.
We had a great time at Liverpool in June 2016 at the 9.5mm Festival when we spoke about your illness.
You did a splendid job of projecting the 9.5mm entries on a Buckingham conversion. Although, as I recall, one or two magnetic films gave some trouble.

Certainly not good news but thankfully, medicine has progressed. I wish you the best.

Sorry to hear this, but hope you can get the right medication. Also sorry for late reply, but I have got relatives suffering from this and it took a while to come to grips.

Lee, I am glad you decided to share this with us. It certainly prompted me to think about being prepared to confront whatever life my throws at me. Your passion for all things related to film is the best antidote to the diagnosis!

Stay well Lee. The best offense against this disease is exactly what you are doing, keeping your mind busy and occupied with something you really love to do, namely all the things encompassed by the cine hobby. Also stay physically active as much as you can with long walks etc.
Your love and amazing contributions to this hobby are an inspiration to everyone on this forum. Keep up the good work!
