Another Christmas movie tonight "Its A Wonderful Life" There are two versions on this disc. The Colourised and the original B/W version.

I watched the colourised one, and I must say its impressive to watch over B/W. Not just the fact its colourised, but the amazing detail of the image as well. I don't think I can go back to B/W after watching this one "sorry folks" I am totally sold on it. I must add that I am not a fan of altering the look from an original print, but in this case its really amazing to watch. I still have a few screen shots from a previous screening, so will add them in below

That is a very good job of colorizing. The colors are muted, which suits the somber subject matter. I have the colorized version of A Night to Remember and it is not as well done. There are some B&W movies that a best left alone. I am also sure there are movies in B&W that the director may have wanted to film in color, but did have have the budget to do it.

In the end it is a matter of personal taste, and you can choose which version you prefer.

I have always wondered why the modification of the original Star Wars by Lucas has annoyed so many fans. I came across an interview with George Lucas on this topic. The way he explain it, he was simply finishing the movie he wanted to make, but could not, because the ran out of time and money to do it as he always intended.

I imagine the fans have watched the original Starts Wars so often they remember everything exactly as it was, so when it is different in the Special Edition version they feel "But that's just wrong!" I felt the same when reading the Stephen King book Carrie after seeing the film and having the Derann 2x400ft for years before doing so.

A very special time to project film. Dad used to hire a special 16mm feature to show at Christmas to the family.
Most popular titles were Wizard of Oz, Hoppity goes to town and Gullivers Travells. We loved Dads shows in the long room at the farm house Dad being a Kentish master farmer and the long room only being used for weddings, funerals and film shows.

Today our fave Christmas films would have to be in order..

Tonight I finished off, with a screening of "A Christmas Carol" stereo on Super8 film the print quality is really excellent.

I agree about the print quality as I have just shown my copy for Christmas Eve, along with the Tom & Jerry "The Night Before Christmas" and the 200ft of "The Small One".

I finished off Boxing day with "Gremlins", then added the anamorphic for "Goodwill to Men" and (as I have heard said that "It's not Christmas until you have dropped Alan Rickman off the Nakatomi Building) the final part of Die Hard.
