  • What Football game?

This evening’s viewing. Oh, is there a (American) football game on TV tonight? Not interested in watching the ridiculously long pre-game show nor the “big game” itself (I’m weird that way). Fired up ye olde Super 8mm movie projector and watched another one of my “Little Rascals” shorts I recently purchased.

I ALWAYS go to a Super-Bowl party! (Our friends are there and my wife insists!)

It's a strange media event: during the game itself, maybe half the group gradually drifts out to the kitchen and then somebody yells "COMMERCIAL!!!!" and everybody rushes back in!

For myself, I'm sitting here with a notebook computer on the 8mm Forum!

Now, don't get me wrong here: I love sports!

-canoeing, hiking, mountain biking: you know, the big three!😉

Someone asked me if I was going to watch the superbowl and I replied "Yes, I flush daily."

They never spoke to me again.......

Why, it's the Stupor-bowl! We're like some of you folks. We only watch it for the commercials!

60 minutes actually playing time over 3 plus hours says it all. I think Janet Jackson contribution was the “twin “ highlights in all the years. Mind you I think there was only one escapee.

                I know NOW!

It's a sign that I'm getting into the North side of middle-age: I often have no idea who modern celebrities are!

There was a contest on a local radio station maybe a week ago: "Greatest performers who both sing and dance". I guessed Michael Jackson and he was number 1 in the survey. Unfortunately Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire were nowhere within that 10! (I guess I watch too many old movies...)

I am a sports fan and always watch the super bowl. It's not always a great game but this year exceeded my expectations... Great game and I loved a lot of the new commercials. I always turn the sound off during the halftime show so I can't say one comment or another about it. This is whats nice about having control over your own TV. If you don't like it don't watch it.

I'm not a particularly great football fan, but I'll have to say this game was more than watchable: it was very competitive and kind of a cliffhanger at the end.

My strength here is I don't follow either team, so my emotional investment was pretty small. I have family members who live in Pennsylvania who wear Eagles jerseys on Game Day: they can't be too happy today...

I must admit that it was a better game than usual, as I live it when the underdog wins ( but Polly pure bred was nowhere to be seen ). I am getting into the oldies category too, as I am bewildered as to why they don't get some classic rock band up there, that might we'll appeal to more people. I just turn down the halftime show, and just turn on some of my own recorded tracks ... at least then, I am listening to someone who has at least a smidgit of talent.

Pre COVID, I was working (Video Production -not performing) on a new musical touring show. The TV ad v/o contained the line "and featuring the music of Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and George Gershwin..." response from a national station's compliance officer, was "Are these people well known, have they had any hits?" Our somewhat sarcastic response was along the lines of "Ask Google".🙄
The ad was cleared for transmission.😁

Black Sunday, Two Minute Warning and The Longest Yard were pretty exciting but not for the football.
