  • A new podcast episode with an interview with Simon McConway about Blackpool

The second episode of The Humming Projector Podcast has been released. This time I talk to Simon McConway about the Blackpool convention. Simon is one of the organizers, and we discuss the convention’s long history (it is in fact older than I am), its the future and why you should go there if you have the chance! Even if you live too far away to go, many of the subjects will apply to conventions elsewhere. Go to our website to listen to the episode (no software needed) or learn how to subscribe with a podcast player!

      Elvind,

Do you fancy doing a podcast with myself and John Clancy to help promote the next BFCC in April?

        Hi Elvind,
Thankyou for another interesting podcast. Can I ask you what is the song title to your intro music, as this is driving me mad. I know this tune but I can't think for life of me what the title is. I would be very grateful to know.
        Steve.

              Thanks everybody!

Mark: I will send you a message!

Steve: It is Glad Rag Doll by the Original Havana Band. Here is the complete track:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-e80RPLr00
It is now in the public domain, and I thought it was a cool tune. I wondered when that question would pop up :-) The Ubuntu Podcast that ran for 14 years or so had a different tune from the same band, and I always liked that and I got in a good mood just by hearing it.

Paul: Maybe we will see each other there one day?

                Hi Eivind,
Thank you, of course it is. When I was a child my grandparents had a Steinway grand pianola piano, and this was one of the piano rolls they had.
I have just found on youtube the exactly the same piano roll being played, and it has brought a tear to my eye hearing it again just as I remember it.

                Thank you.

Thanks for sharing your childhood memory of this song. I really enjoyed watching that video in the context of your story!

Imagine the scenario I was in a few days ago......

2700 miles away from home, flaked out on a sun lounger around a swimming pool in a beautiful holiday resort on one of the islands of Cape Verde just off the West African coast. Sun shining. Temperature a comfortable mid 20's, Factor 50 all over my body, Pina Colada in one hand, mobile phone in the other, connected to the web, headphones on, listening to my favourite subject.................... Eivind and Simon talking about super 8, Blackpool, and the convention !

Life just doesn't get any better than this !!!
