Kind of embarrassing, but also funny, so here we go. It’s my so-called “weekend” so I enjoyed some (excessive) “adult beverages” last night. I wanted to watch a recent film I purchased but I felt the need to clean it first. Wound it up on the rewinds and proceeded to clean only to find a broken splice. OK…no big deal. Or so I thought. I don’t recall the details, but after 10 or 20 minutes of trying to do a simple tape splice, I gave up and put everything away.
Fast-forward to this morning. Now sober, I retrieved the film (still on the rewind unit). One reel was wound over. The other reel wound under. WTF? Also found several small film cuttings from the splicer under my coffee table, so apparently several editing attempts were made. I recall attempting to use the 50+ year old Kodak press tapes that came with my splicer. Found the new press tapes and finished the simple splice in just minutes this morning.
Afraid to run this through my projector tonight. 😂
(probably the Elmo ST100…maybe a Sankyo)
