Two weeks ago channel 5 started showing the entire seasons of a sitcom called The Brittas Empire 91-97. Having worked in entertainment for most of my life, starting work when everybody else is going home, I never got to spend an evening at home in front of the TV. And in doing so missed out on so many shows.
The Brittas Empire is set in a leisure center in which actor/comedian Chris Barrie plays the most ignorant, rude, arrogant, patronising, incompetent manager. So much so that the entire leisure center staff including his own wife want him dead!
Every episode seems to get funnier and funnier as it goes along, I don't think that I have laughed out loud in such a long time, from watching this sitcom.
Only now can I appreciate the talents of Chris Barrie, with his comedy timing and delivery playing this patronising character.
The entire seasons can be found on youtube. They are worth checking out if you want to have a laugh.
It's a shame they don't make them like this anymore.
