  • Beware of Dishonest Buyers

A lot of collectors go on about sellers, but a good friend who I have now got to know over the past few weeks appears to have been the victim of some very dishonest buyers. Well, one dishonest, and I think one very odd one. Let me explain,
Having spoken to my friend, or should I call him, the collectors friend?
He has sent a film to a Customer in Europe, Antonio M. Sanz of Madrid, Spain, this person recieved a digest he complained about, I was astonished to hear that my associate refunded this guy only then, to have all contact stopped by the Antonio and for this person NOT to return the print. While some here may question why he was refunded before the print was returned, the answer is, he trusted the guy, he has no reason after so many conversation's not to. This now makes all collectors equal in the eyes of the my associate, sadly, the only way forward is, "trust no one". (Except me ).
So beware of Antonio M. Sanz of Madrid, a real putz.

To add insult to injury, Czechowicz of Germany complained about a five week wait and opened a return case against my seller friend on Paypal . After being informed about "on demand " and actually speaking to Ludwig about the production process .
The seller tried to save him money on shipping by having Andec ship direct to them in Germany ( this would have saved about 35 Euros ) . His order has now had to been cancelled and Czechowicz has been refunded.

As I said before, I dont do so much film anymore, I have read a lot about new releases on 8mm, but with people like this around, I have to ask if it's worth it. I wonder what part of, "the wait for a new print may take a few months due to them being printed to order" do some fools not understand??

I have only known my friend for a short time now and I have to say he is very direct, straight to the point and doesn't take fools gladly, but he is a good laugh and a bloke who will try and help anyone.

The two customers have been given refunds, and now HE has lost out for helping people.

I thought I would put this up to warn you all out there as I see a similar post elsewhere.

I think that we have all ran into " bad eggs" out there. I don't know which internet website your friend uses, but one of the intensely frustrating things with eBay, is that, even with a no refunds policy, eBay will still automatically refund any seller just because he feels dissatisfied in some way, shape or form, and whether you like it or not, ZIPPO! They siphon out of your account they're money, ( without ever sending the films back, as you said ), and at some very inopportune times, as I have found. eBay apparently, is more concerned with the customer, than the seller. It wasn't always like this.

      Alan,

It appears that you were not involved in either of the transactions you mention. I have no problem with name and shame, but the person posting about a bad seller/buyer needs to be one of the participants. If the wronged party is a member here, they should absolutely post about this. If not, please join and post. The actions of these buyers come off as Tricky odious maneuvers, however it is the wronged party that needs to put it out there.

I will close this for now. Alan, if you were directly involved please PM me and I will open this up.

        Fair comment Doug,

I only mentioned it as I was on the phone the other day making some enquiries regarding some films he bought, this was mentioned in the conversation.

This wasn't ebay Osi, this was two collectors buying new releases.
