  • We came out singing

I just had to let you know how my wife and I came out of our local Cinema singing this afternoon. We'd gone to the Silver Screen' showing. It's just £5 for over 60's with tea/coffee/biscuits thrown in. We settled in our seats and the trailer stills came up half way up the screen and on the ceiling! I thought it a problem with the trailers, but when the company logo came up part on screen part on ceiling I'd had enough. 'It sometimes happens' said the counter assistant who, a few seconds after my return, actually got it to fit the screen. Oh the absolute pleasure of seeing the 75th anniversary showing of 'Easter Parade'. Yes, I've got it on Dvd but this was big screen technicolor (or almost) delight. I sang along to 'We're a couple of swells', The lady on the magazine cover' and Easter Parade. I let nostalgia wash over me as Fred Astaire danced and Judy Garland sang. This is what Cinema is all about. Nothing I've seen this year has even approached it. We came out singing, glad to be reminded that such films can still be seen where they belong in the company of others who appreciate an age when such films regularly brought pleasure. Happy Easter everyone. It's been a great start to a much anticipated Easter Sunday.

I am with you all the way there Dave. Nothing beats watching a film where it was meant to be shown. It sounds like your local cinema is similar to the Kavanagh here in Herne Bay. We also have silver screen showings on Wednesday afternoons. They also do special shows for mothers and babies, autistic people, and supply descriptive equipment for the partially sighted. They even stlll use curtains and screen lighting. Ken Finch.😊
