Either you have it or you don't, and Buddy never lost it! Awesome to see him before he largely became famous. A lot of Rock N Roll think they are all that and a bag of chips with all they're looks and flash, but Buddy was pure style and run circles around most of them.
Thanks Chip for the amazing post. In the 60s I was a keen amateur drummer, jazz , blues and a bit of big band stuff. Buddy was my hero , I had lots of vinyl featuring him and I would listen through head phones and try and copy his style, but never could!!!! He was the master and his technique was impeccable , no one will ever come close to him, it would be impossible to emulate his skill, he clearly was born with sticks in his hands . There’s some wonderful stuff on you tube that is well worth watching.
