  • Goodbye Glenda Jackson

It has been announced that Glenda Jackson actor and ex-Labour Member of Parliament has died at the age of 87. Famous for her TV portrayal of Elizabeth I in the BBC series, Women in Love, many other films and theatrical apperances, also for her Cleopatra sketch with Morecambe and Wise.

She also presented the Movie Maker Ten Best amateur film awards at the NFI many years ago. I think she may have been appearing on stage at the National Theatre next door at that time. Seen here with Tony Rose from a photo I took.Click image for larger version

      A truly great loss.
Not only to entertainment world, but to politics too.
I am sorry I can't find a better quality version of this routine than this.

Glenda Jackson had a talent for making her performances worth watching even in mediocre material. Her Elizabeth is legendary and her body of work will continue to entertain in the future.

I second that about her role as Elizabeth on the BBC TV mini series. Sad to hear about her passing. Also loved her in Sunday, Bloody Sunday
