Absolutely classic interviews with the likes of Orson Welles, Ingrid Bergman, Fred Astaire, Robert Mitchum (who was having an "off" day), Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Dustin Hoffman, Bette Davis, Lauren Bacall and Michael Caine to name just a very very few.

This is very sad news.

Very sad indeed. Probably one of the most popular interviewers on tv. Many of his interviews were broadcast on a tribute programme on bbc recently, so at least they are preserved. The programme included the ones mentioned by Melvin. Ken Finch.

He finally got to interview one of his screen heroes when he managed to get James Cagney in front of the cameras, Cagney did not like to be interviewed, but Parky made him at ease and some great stories came out. He was one of the most natural interviewers ever, but he also made sure to do his research, which really shows, he will be missed!
