28mm at the Cinema Museum

In case it's of interest to anyone, I will be running some 28mm films at the Cinema Museum as part of the 10th anniversary show of the Kennington Bioscope on 13th September:

The main feature will be a 35mm print of Clara Bow's 'It' (1927). All will have live piano accompaniment.

I'll be using a Victor projector specially upgraded by Brian Giles for the 28mm in the first half, and films from my collection.

Sadly I cannot attend it. 28mm projections are so rare...

Was this a popular guage at one time? Was it largely a European film guage? We're there many titles for this guage, or was it largely for home movies?

Ossi, that gauge, Pathé Kok in Europe, Pathescope kn the US, had more success in your country (about 10.000 projectors sold) than here. The davantage of 28mm was that it was, unlike 35mm, safe (not inflammable) but it's main commercial problem was it's cost (no big difference, I believe with 35mm). Pathé had the project of bringing the Pathé Baby (9.5) on the market, so didn't keep on with the Pathé Kok.
