The first film I ever saw him in at the cinema was "Zulu" although this was more of a Stanley Baker film than Michael Caine. I think this was his first film, that was way back in 1964-65. Later "The Italian Job" with those mini coopers "I had one by the way
" was my favorite. He has certainly had an amazing career. In more recent times "Is Anybody There" is excellent film of getting old and where "you" might land, here are a couple of screen shots from my 35mm trailer

He has had a long career. In addition to Zulu and Italian Job I would rate the first three Harry Palmer movies, The Man who would be King and The Last Valley as great roles Zulu was his 1st starring role but he had featured in at least 16 dfilms plus a load of television. The Hill on Korea with Stanley Baker would be the biggest role. He claims he only got that due to national service in Korea.Comment

Went to see The Great Escaper yesterday at our local cinema. I found myself getting very emotional at times. Both Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson gave a brilliant performance. A fantastic way to end an acting career. It is a real film about real life and a nice change to the mass of CGI, animated and unintelligible stuff that seems to dominate the screens these days.Comment

It’s a great role to go out on and should get Award recognition but in this political climate unlikely.
