  • Big Screen Time Revival - 22nd October 2023 - UK

    Dear all,

Just a quick reminder that the next Big Screen Time Revival at Harvey Road School is on Sunday 22 Oct 23 😊.

It's only 7 minutes in the opposite direction to the April 2023 BFCC so hope to see many of you there that may not have ventured before.

For full details, please see flier attached. (Doug, please can you add to the Events page and check the attachment works).

For the first time at a UK convention all four gauges will have HID converted machines!!! I'm particularly looking forward to seeing how the Standard 8 and the 9.5 look on the 16 foot screen.

We also have the UK premiere, at a convention, of the new digests for Casino Royale and Home Alone.

Also, at least one New Release from Dorun films

    Saturday Morning Picture Show

Standard 8mm Show/Rarities - Including a very interesting promo for the Elmo TP8.

16mm show - From the founder of Big Screentime, Geoff Wheeler - The story of Warner Brothers Studios

9.5mm show - First outing of my newly converted Buckingham/Elf NT1 (thank you Dave Locke )

Super 8 Scope Show - will include three new Scope Trailers available from the Reel Image

There will also be a bring and buy and a free table.

We have at least 13 dealers which will include sadly some of the late Martyn Steven's vast collection. Also some of Stephen Herbert's collection will be available.

There are four large tables left if you or any friends would like one.

Excellent refreshments are available all day at Tom and Jerry's Cafe .

    See you soon,

    David

I'm lucky to be based in Brussels, which is quiete central (1h22 by train to Paris, about two hours to London...) and I know how to save on transports and accommodations so I can travel fairly often. But do be be jealous 😉

Always great to spend time with other REEL folk.
First time I've projected Regular 8mm on a 16ft screen with one of my Eumig HID conversions. It was the first one I converted to HID and a machine I purchased in the mid 70's. Solid reliability thanks to Austrian engineering.

8mm film is just so superb, particularly the new prints which are imported. What a great hobby this has been.

Had a great time. Thank you David for organising this and all your hard work.

Didn't buy much but went there more to watch the shows and chat this time.

It was great seeing the Casino Royale (2006) digest which was magnificent zoomed up to the very large full screen. At times it looked like 35mm. Excellent digest with lots of action and plenty of dialogue too. As much as I love Casino Royale I would have to say the best we saw on screen was the crane chase from Terminator 3. Absolutely fantastic with amazing non stop action for this 200ft. The amount of work which went into this sequence is incredible. Looked fantastic projected on the very large screen, so much better than watching it at home on my current 4ft screen. I think I need to zoom up bigger in future 😃. Not forgetting the excellent trailer for Terminator 2 3d release, another excellent print so sharp it could cut the screen material! and the colours are truly excellent. The 9.5 optical sound show was good also.

                          An excellent day.

                          Graham S

Collective thank you for the emails I received re the demo of my beloved Eumig I converted to HID projecting regular 8mm sound film.
Ive never had it on a 16ft screen before but it did well. Thank you to young Mark Norton for operating it for the show. Top job!
