  • Peter Butterworth Carry on Star The Great Escape Connection

Interesting article on Peter Butterworth Carry On Star who as a POW was involved in organising the Great Escape. Funny years later he auditioned for another POW movie The Wooden Horse and was turned down as his face didn’t fit and casting director called him fat. He was married to Maggie Thatcher impersonator Faith Brown. Click image for larger version

Interesting that you mentioned this Mike: this is an article about my Mum's cousin who died in 2012. He was thought to have been the last survivor of the POW camp that inspired The Great Escape film. I'm in touch with his daughter (my second cousin), mentioned in the article.

My Mum's cousin wasn't an escapee but was one of the prisoners who secretly disposed of the tunnel spoil in the parade ground via his trousers!

Makes me doubly-pleased to own Derann's 600ft cut down.
