We're in the midst of a major Arctic chill here, and I am betting a lot of you are too. Take care, wrap your pipes, let your facets go at a slow drip, ( gee, I'm at a slow drip ... Haha!) Stay warm and successfully ride this nasty weather thru!

Until last year, my son attended college in western Indiana, 10 miles south of Lake Michigan and open water all the way to the North Pole! (...well..ok..."Almost Canada", but...).
It was 8 below there today and Windy!
-Sometimes, I get the impression the difference in weather played at least a partial role in him coming home for school! (Kind'a because he said so!)

Yep! It's 2 degrees today, with a 20 mile per hour wind-chill, making it a balmy 18 below. On the plus side, I won a rare feature print of "A Day at the Races" on ebay during this artic chill! We have another Arctic chill coming again on Friday, but the highs will be 25 or so above zero, and that will feel summer-like compared to this junk! At least, in the middle of that, on Wednesday and Thursday, it'll warm up to 40 degrees. Nice ....

My son and I have a tradition of hiking a trail at a local park. It's six miles around a lake: just a beautiful place. I first managed to get him to do it when he was six years old: six miles is a big deal when you are 4 feet tall!
Very often we bring a pocket camp stove and make lunch at roughly the halfway mark.
We're both off today, so the plan was to hike around the lake this morning.
It's 22 degrees out, so.....-yeahhhhhhhh.....no!
(Fortunately it will still be there when we get up above 40 degrees again! This goes for canoeing, biking and camping too!)
