This auction appears to show Laurel & Hardy Two Tars on 2 reels . 1 400ft and 1 200ft in a thick Black Hawk box which is clearly labelled Two Tars. Any ideas?

This title was my very first Blackhawk L&H, and by extension my son's introduction to Stan and Ollie when he was 3 or 4 years old!
To this day you walk up to him and yell "Who Started all this??!!!" and he shouts back "THEY did!"
It's kind of a mystery: my own Two Tars (S8, Scored Sound) is 400 Feet on a single reel. Now, I've run into situations before with Blackhawk (Example: Laughing Gravy) where their 400 Footer was actually an abbreviated edition, but IMDB says that Two Tars is 21 minutes. This should fit on a single 400 Foot reel just fine
There's a story here, I'm sure...
There are two of these on eBay right now.

My copy of Two Tars is on a single 400ft reel and it is a pink Blackhawk. I did have another version which despite being 400 was edited. The archive footage of naval ships was removed. Calling Joe for guidance.Comment

As I remember it, my scored S8 edition begins with stock battleship footage. Among the ships mentioned was Battleship Arizona: kind of poignant coming from the years before Pearl Harbor.Comment

If your copy of Two Tars runs 20 minutes, it is an edited version.

The opening scenes were shot on Main Street in Culver City, and the car battle scenes were filmed in Santa Monica along what is now Centinela Avenue.

IMDB gives a running time of 21 minutes. Maybe 30 minutes was shot then edited down to 21 minutes for a release version.
Boys in Blue is one half of Two Tars which combined with Car Wreckers an edited 200ft version which concentrates on the mayhem with the cars.
Both titles were also issued as 400ft edition called Shipmates Ashore A riot of fun and laughter including in full 'Boys in Blue' and 'Car Wreckers'.
There is a 400ft version from Cinevision of Two Tars
All released by Mountain.
Road to Ruin was a 200ft version of Two Tars issued by Fletcher Films
Movieland International released a 250ft musical version. I think called Car Wreckers..
IE International Italy released a 400ft version called Two Tars.
Bet you Derann issued a version as well.
i wouldn’t be surprised it there are also 50ft versions f this title like You’re Darn Tootin.

That one repeats scenes. Must be an amateur's edit. The highest quality version I found was posted on the internet archive this month. Everything I found was 20-21 minutes long.Originally posted by Joerg Polzfusz View PostComment
