Interesting, just look at the modern selection from Warner Bros. More inept CGI dross. Cinema is dead today, I cant for the life of imagine who sits through this tripe, does anyone actually enjoy them? It’s sad that films produced by them in their first years are so vastly superior to the modern offering.

These modern films are produced while standing on the backs of giants, Warner Bros, MGM and Columbia etc whose founding fathers would not believe how their names are being sullied with this rubbish. A crying shame.

The classic studios like Warner Brothers don't produce movies any longer. They are primarily releasing companies which occasionally co-produce with other companies. You don't see movies starting with "Produced and Released by XYZ studios" any longer. Instead it is a list of companies which take credit for the production.

I look at the legacy of Warner's, and it is glorious! The hard hitting crime drama, film Noir, gangster pictures, in a way that no other studio were really capable of, not to forget, of course, Warner Bros. Animation, the marvelous Looney Tunes/ Merry Melodies, which are still just as fresh as the day they were animated! Of course, Warner's weren't the only company to do these genres among others, but they did some of them the best. MGM, for instance, could do and did the greatest of musicals, but the Warner studio was in a category of they're own! Cheers to Warner's!

The other day I had left the TV on in the other room, and while sitting at my computer a film came on the TV.
I knew without looking that this was a Warner bros film, just by hearing the soundtrack. That Warner bros studio orchestra was something else, it walk over any other studios music department, with its lush arrangements and glorious film scores.
It's a shame they can't make them like that anymore.

When I screened this one in my home cinema, the audience reaction was "Wow!":

Today, we are expected to watch endless commercials and previews, until the movie "starts":

Thank you Ed, the point exactly.
I have just listened to that clip of The high and the mighty through headphones.
Not only do you get a tingle down your spine, you get a lump in your throat. thrown in for good measure.
              A true class act.

That clip that Ed posted is so stunning and symbolic of the golden age of the Hollywood studio's at their peak. That opening credit sequence with that beautiful score just grabs you from the get go, letting you know that your entertainment for the next couple of hours is in the hands of the great Warner Brothers studio and the John Wayne company.
How far the industry has fallen since these glorious days!

The Warner's cartoons benefited from using that same orchestra that was used for all of those classic scores!

= Sequel to a remake, mix of remakes, spin-off & sequel. = nothing really new :-( Sigh!
What happened to all those script writers that Hollywood once had? Have they all been replaced by ChatGPT that is now recycling old ideas?

And access to the music in the Warner library for them to play too. Warner wanted to promote their composers' work, and put up sales!!

It seems that every film made of recent years are co productions of a number of companies. Those of us who still go to a cinema find that following the old familiar logos, there are the logos and sometimes musical fanfares of up to four others before the title of the film. This happens irrespective of the country of origin. I guess this is because it costs so much to make a film these days.
