Well another event has come and gone and a fun time was had by all.
The weather forecast was grim all day with a chance of rain and thunder showers sitting at 70%. Thought I might have to call it, but heck, the show must go on and I was prepared for a quick shutdown.

A few people who had to travel decided not to chance it so our turnout this year was about 30 people. Dusk hit and the film gods smiled as the sky cleared and the evening stayed pleasant. (After midnight we did get hit with nasty thunder and lightning)

Got a kick out of the kids who come up to the projector and tried to wrap their heads around how it all works! Chaplin got huge laughs (along with Godzilla) and more than one person commented, "I need to see that film" after the "That Darn Cat" trailer.

I was hoping to document it better but again the day got so busy. Put what I have on VIMEO so you can get an idea of the show.

This looked terrific Terry. Sounds like the audience really enjoyed it. Nothing beats cinema under the stars.

Congrats on what looks (and sounds) like a successful film show! And I'm watching the highlights of your film show here in Colorado via an iPad -- ain't technology great?!!! (See, video isn't the enemy of film collecting!)

wow that looked great and I think that we could all have this type of film night!
I know I have the projectors and lots of various films to screen and on a nice large screen!

Everyone "should" have this kind of film night. The film and projectors IS what makes it special. I'd say the 40 somethings, like me get the biggest kick out of it - I think it kind of reminds them of Saturday morning TV. The biggest audience reaction came from the Coyote / Road Runner segments. " I learned everything about physics and kinetics from that show" was my favourite comment.
I actually added those segments at the last moment. They came from a 200' digest that was in dire condition (missing titles and ending and sprocket damage through out)so I just saved the segments in runnable condition and spliced them in between shorts - worked out really well!

The idea of using a guitar amp came from, I think, a member of this forum. I read about this idea somewhere....

Just used a 25 foot guitar cord. From the headphone jack of The Eumig and the sound output from the Elmo. The volume of the guitar amp was set to a very low level. It did sound great though.
