The standard and super 8 one reel prints by Collector's Club are ubiquitous on eBay UK. On the whole CC prints were poor dupes of releases by american 8mm distributors many of which were poor to start with and often shortened from two to one reelers. As a child I was glad to have a few of these soot and whitewash prints but as an adult collector they don't warrant house room. I have often felt that the examples on offer from eBayer's aren't worth the cost of posting them. The reserve price of this reel suggests that the value of an empty reel is greater than if there is actual film on the spool.

I like how they throw around fancy names like Elmo, Eumig, Bolex, Bell and Howell, Sankyo etc. Plus there's No chance of rusting! I call it fishing for suckers, they may get a bite.

it looks more like a reel to reel tape reel than a 8mm reel, but it can work both ways.

Is STEPPING ON THE GAS, the originally titled Milburn Morante comedy, which is rare ,or the retitled LIZZIES OF THE FIELD with Billy Bevan which I see all the time?
The worst Collectors Club prints were those of the silent features. The shorts, mostly Blackhawk copies, were average to good, as were the talkies. Two reelers were usually shortened by one or two minutes, and were often also available in one reel cutdowns.
But, especially in their earlier days they did have lots of rarities, including silent and talking cartoons and comedies, like lots of Felixes,b&w 30es Terrytoons and Van Beurens,Snooky the chimp,Hank Mann, and others.

The Collectors Club 1 reel 'Stepping On The Gas' is indeed
'Lizzies Of The Field' which has some quite spectacular stunts.

LIZZIES was released in full (via Blackhawk) - GAS is a cut-down, rare one of the same short, and is quite spectacular for its time - Shorty

I believe your right Jim. That was my first thought about that reel.
