I just screened this Standard 8mm Sound film - Dastardly and Muttley - Follow That Feather - colour & sound 1969 6.5mins.

As the pictures show using my I-Pad the colour is excellent!

Clinton,

Very nice! Many of those Walton releases have held their color quite well.

we use to have a full length feature film on standard 8 called Great Day in the Morning with Robert Stack. The colour was 100% first class, unfortunately it did suffer with poor sound. Never seen another copy though.

I have the same cartoon in super 8 and the color is also good. Nice to know that some of the old stuff has held up.

I actually believe a lot of the standard 8 stuff was very good, apart from sound on the one feature all ours had great colours and very good sound.

You'll find alot of those Std 8 prints maintain a gorgeous look, even the black & white ones have a sharp density - Shorty

My Brother says exactly the same, he always maintains his b/s Laurel & Hardy's and Westerns have a more "black and white" look with better contrast. I am inclined to agree.
We also had the 4 x 200ft extracts of The Golden Voyage of Sinbad, the colour was so good, it had a technicolour look to it if you know what i mean, Unfortunately we had to sell this one on due to poor sound.
