Fellow collectors, your Comments please.

A couple of friends would like to see Die Hard this week and I actually don't mind running it for them. But in lew of 9/11, would this be correct, or polittically incorrect, given how the events of that sad day has changed most of us.

I am just curious what all of you might think of it.

Thanks for your replies. I was lucky enough not to have lost loved ones during that most horrible event. But so many others did.

Hi Chip

Yes, show the movie. They have requested to see the film you could ask their opinions before you screen it and have an alternative film to watch if they decide not see it other than that you can do nothing more.

On another theme the only time I had a audience walk out of two people (husband and wife) was at a showing of Cabaret at a local
film maker club.

I had been asked to do an evening and had offered a selection of film choices. The views came back that they really wanted to see Cabaret proberably because it was a rare title on super 8.

So the programme for the year was published everyone knew I would be showing Cabaret that night. On the night of the show I did my little talk started the film ten minutes into it these two get up say they have had enough of this filth and leave.

A couple of weeks later I meet them again at the club and it is
as if nothing happened!! Hello there how are you etc.

Talk about the Stepford Wives!!

I think the best thing you can do about the whole business and this osrt of thing in general, is keep a light respect in the back of your mind but really go on as if it isn`t there.
In the Uk we are throughly innundated with dire warnings and suggestions of things that could happen and we should worry about in the media.
We are going through a phase now of silly aweful scenario drama docs and horrorible mission control type enactments on TV with what iffs with allsorts of horrible things and to top it all the Uk government is sending out please panic guidance letters and leaflets telling you just what you should be worriesd about every day of the week and when you lay down in bed etc,
Thats all about justifying the war of course but it seems that our country is going full tilt to toally terrify and chill its own people I thought that what the terror types were up to.
My poor little lad rushed in to the house the other week all frightened and worried mumbling on about buying in bottled water etc etc after seeing this leaflet crap at a friends house and I just think is there any flippin need.
Anyway go for it chip, enjoy the film, enjoy your company we are only specs in a very strange and odd game of chess played out by all sides so lets get on with enjoying life and enjoying the warmth and light of the sun when it rises.Mumble over.
Good to see you back on by the way.
best Mark.

Chip,

If your friends asked for it, then they know what it is they are going to see. I wouldn't worry about it in the least.
