I was disappointed that Disney never gave the release for Derann for Song of the South. I always enjoyed that film during the 60's and 70's when it was released theatrically here in the USA. The animation and colors especially during the Zip-a-dee-doo-da, sequence was always beautiful, joyful and fun. I will never understand why that sequence was not released as a 200 foot release, yet Disney releases Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby. That's in your face politically incorrect! So go figure?
Disney animators always had a knack to make 2 dimensional animation, look 3 dimensional, with either bright colors and subtle backdrops the images always seemed to appear with a special luminous depth which is lacking when the films get cleaned up with airbrushing and dust removal and then transferred to video.
Thus, I will not understand what is so, spectacular in watching the harshness of CGI animation which is wonderful, but at times less pleasing to the eye than the wonderful soft pallet that Disney infused into their films.
During it's zenith, all done with human hands!
Derann's release of Snow White is spectacular, but due to the neg. clean-up by Disney, they over cleaned and removed some of the depth that was inherent in the cellulose cells, guash paint, and plate glass look that the films originally had.
The reel change medallion cues which were in the upper right hand corner, are also missing.
Thery over tinker with their product. P.S. Dumbo was probably never released due to the same reasons as Song of the South. Song of the South, is properly titled, it's a romantic song of a time long gone, but the true Dum 'Dumbo's are the PC Crowd.

Barry - just wondered, where do you live? The more I think about this, the more bizarre it is. It's not even as if Santa has much of a religious connection. Presumably people locally are saying it's madness, as I doubt if even the majority of PC-obsessed idiots have much inclination to ban Santa!
Micheal - were the stares from the other guests because you are from the USA. If so, I'm shocked and appalled, and I apologise on behalf of the sane people of the UK. I hope your experience was unrepresentative of what most US visitors would find.

I see what many are saying, but then if you go a step further, what about that terrorist supporting scum,(the one with hook for a hand) the prison he is in has been told to take down the crosses because it offends the muslims in the prison, what about the majority? obviously they dont count, to make it worse there building a mosque within the prison grounds to please them . Arnt they there because they have been naughty and are facing court. On films, The song of the south is masterpiece, again, we have some jerk somewhere suggesting it is racist. CRAP. When i went to Disney Florida two years ago the old steam boat ride plays a tape with old cotton pickers singing, all i want to know is where are these d***heads that come up with these ideas, i'd love to get into a conversation with them. Recently in the USA the TV networks were baned from showing Saving Private Ryan, apparantly its too violent, and what are us and the US doing over in Iraq right now? The mid west religous states came up with that one, the man in presidency is from that area and is the same man who sent the states to war. As im sayng from the song of the south to Tom and Jerry is gone nuts and the real majority needs to wake up and say what they feel. We do all live in free countrys after all.

To, Mike and Adrien,
Thank you for your kind sentiment. It is appreciated. This may get somewhat off topic but, our daily excursions around London were delightful, with stops at a local pub, Cruise on the Thames, Convent Garden,(many crazy people there on Sunday) Imperial War Museum, Churchill's Cabinet War Room, St. Pauls Cathedral, tour of the City and area. Buckingham Palace inside and out, Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, The West End Theatre in the evening to see the Musical: ShowBoat, Tower of London and Crown Jewels Tower Bridge, #10 Downing St.,Changing of the Horse Guard, Hyde Park, Westminster Abby, past the Park with statues of FDR, Chuchill, and Eisenhower across from where Allied Command was stationed. ( I forgot the name of this park area) The inspiration of (neighborhood real community) of fictional Mary Poppins, Piccadilly Sqauare, Big Ben ( we wish we could have seen Parliment in session) Traveled the double decker Bus, and the Tubes, and checked out Harrods with a lunch at one of the cafe's indoors.
I just don't know if they were of Arab background, and nontheless, this does not apply to all people of this one culture, but they were only seen in the evening, and they imposed a chilling feeling when we returned at the Churchill Hotel at night. It's not appreciated when we were being stared at. As tourists, we are not boisterous, we dress respectfully, and will never carry on. Perhaps they can recognize that we were Americans. It's not anyones fault, some of these people impose terrible manners, but thank you for your kind words and the wonderful hospitality which we enjoyed all the same.
Last but not least, after full days of walking, the bed at the Churchill, is the most comfortable which we have ever slept, in any place home away from home. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)
