I was at a Thrift Shop and found a (brace yourselves) 1946 Revere Eight 85 for $15 (it came with instructions, case, and power cord, but no takeup reel) It has a 500W lamp (i forget the 3 letters on the top of the lamp) with a blue tip. It has a really strong cooling fan, and the best part is... IT WORKS, even the lamp works! There is a speed control too. Pics comings soon.

Hi Joshua,
I also have a Revere 85, and it is in excellent condition. It looks very similar to the classic Bell & Howell Filmo, in fact in many ways it is a poor mans Bell & howell. But still made quite well, but you have to wonder if Revere copied the B&H design.
A word of caution, you are talking 60 year old wiring in these machines and you could get a very nasty shock if some of the insulation is breaking down.

I think the wiring is ok, because I havent been shocked... yet...

Well it seems to work and the metal parts were cleaned to a shine! But, unfortunately, the projector slows down and speeds up randomly. Could it need oil? A new belt? A new motor? Also, there is a wierd part that keeps coming loose: There is a cover over a hole which, when open, the light from the lamp comes out. Every time I open it, the screw loosens and it cannot be tightened with a screwdriver because the hole is way too thin. I had to use a razor blade to tighten it!
