I was so glad when my Eumig was delivered yesterday. This gal is so clean and like new. She looks like new even the microphone came in its original sealed package and the take-up reel had the cardboard insert still left on. But with that said I was disappointed when i saw that the regular 8mm film sprockets and the take-up spindle sleeve were missing. Not to mention the sound head which I assume sits behind the sound change-over switch, LOL. The sound head must have went bad early on in its life and the previous owners never repaired it, I guess. Other than that the Eumig sound great when you turn her on but I have yet to run film through it, since it only arrived last night.

I'm wondering if a sound head would be difficult to find and expensive?

Excellent! I got my 810D out the other day after some years in the cupboard, and after a clean up it ran very well.

Only if this projector still has the original 1.1 lens (as this is HQS series) then you have something worth because this lens is rare. I experience Eumig lens is sharper from Elmo.

Otherwise without the sound head and reg 8mm converter it is pretty useless.

My 2 cents though

Sure its missing the bits that makes this projector desirable but for now it runs super8 film smoothly. I just need to keep my eyes open for a sound head or another 810 for parts. Lets see what the budget will allow in the future.

There are a lot of machines like this that have been taken out by the infamous worn drive disk. If you can grab one of those cheap it could provide a lot of transplant parts including a replacement sound head.

The head is right underneath the lamp. It's the part that has the white sleeved wire coming out of it and the green dots.

Nice projector! Here in Germany a company called "Quelle" build the same projectors with the licence of Eumig - under the name "Revue Lux". They were cheaper than the original Eumig projectors but had the same technic.

These are my two REVUE Lux 4004 Ton. They are identical with the EUMIG 7xx Series.

For my claims they are good enough. But the lenses on this model are not good: 1.6/17-30mm. So i'm looking for better ones ... and a better light bulb with more than 75W. They can handle 100W.

Alex, sorry to say but I think your machine had been butchered by someone.

Anyway, your Eumig 810DLux HQS is the high-end machine in Eumig line up, especially for dual gauge projector.

If it is Supragon Zoom f: 1.1 \ F: 12.5-25 mm then the latest I knew was sold over $217. That was the last price I found on Ebay (March 2011).

If it is Supragon Zoom f: 1.2 \ F: 12.5-25 mm may be it will be a bit less.

But if it is f 1.0, read this old post:

Eumig 1.0 lens!

It was EURO 150 only for the lens!

Is it a 810D or a 810D LUX? Not all HQS Series had a 1.1 or 1.2 lens. Only the LUX model, i think.

This is from a 810D LUX HQS Manual:

"The high class exceptionally fast f/l.2 "Suprogon" zoom lens with its 12.5-25 mm focal length range plus
the ideal design of the lighting system yields about 35% more light flux on a 44% larger screen area than H.Q.S. models
with the standard 15-30 mm f/1.3 lens at the same projection distance."

Yes Chris you are right. Only Lux model did come with that high quality lens. I don't know which machine that Alex has now since his photo is in low resolution.

Maybe Alex can confirm?

Wow I have been confused so since I got this projector. Since this projector is missing the sound change-over switch I assumed [Eek!] the sound head was also missing but Steve pointed out that it,s under the lamp, well sure enough it's their. Then I slowly read the model name on the projector, a Mark S810 High Quality Sound (super Single). This is not a D model. This only does Super 8mm so no switch over to 8mm and yes it has the 1.3 lens.
MAn do I feel [Embarrassed] .

Winbert please begin rolling your eyes in disgust.

The good news it's all in one piece and in wonderful condition.

Congratulations on your find - It's very rare to see one of these in 'like new' condition, and it didn't seem to make sense that a pristine projector should have some key parts missing!

Thanks Adrian it's a great machine.

I played my first sound super 8 last night,which I bought for the family to see, Sleeping Beauty Once upon a dream. The film is only 7 min. long but it has good color and the sound from the Eumig was very good. This is fun!

hi Alex. I used to live in Hartsdale..Near the County Center.. Do you remember Crazy Eddies? I own the Eumig 810D LUX. I bought it brand new and it did come with the 1.2 lens...Great projector. Very Sharp image, Better than any of my Elmo projectors. Only wish it had a brighter bulb and larger reel capicity...

I went to the Crazy Eddies in Carle Place. You could get a good price there but you needed to show up ready to haggle. Their list prices weren't always as innnnnsaaaane as you'd expect!

They never dealt in cameras or projectors because in those days those were "photo" items and you bought them in "The Camera Department", not "Consumer Electronics" at Crazy Eddies.

If they were still with us you would buy your camera or projector there because it's all "Consumer Electronics" now.

(How I'd love to walk into a store that smells of Kodak chemicals these days!)

I just won an last minute auction on Ebay! I'm very happy hehe. [Big Grin]

EUMIG Mark S 810D LUX HQS --> 20€ incl. shipping.

Because it was a last minute auction and nothing was written in the
description, at the moment i can not say if it's the Supragon 1.1
12.5-25 or 1.2 lens. But on the picture i can see that's one of them.
Description says only: lamp ok, motor runs, dusty. Let's hope that
it's the 1.1 AND that the Std8 sprockets & film guide is inside the
lamp-cover.

Alex wouldn't your 810 run std 8mm just fine if you got sprockets and film guide from somewhere? my Bolex SM80 wont since the counter sits over the rear sprocket, I fund out after thinking about finding that for my SM80.

shipping for the Eumig is 6,50€. Most S8 projectors can be
shipped in Germany between 5 and 15€ according to the weight
and express company. And yes, basically i will get a free
projector. That's why i'm so happy! [Big Grin] Even when the projector
is dead, not working, i think it'll be one of the best deals i ever

The small and large sprokets along with the film gate can be changed but the spindles cannot and the the 810 are missing the sound changeover switch.

Alex and Thor,

The Super 8 Eumigs have a 2 fingered claw that will only fit Super 8 film. The Dual 8 Eumigs have a 1 fingered claw with a very thin pin that can play both Super 8 and Standard 8.

So its not just a matter of sprockets and film gate change over, even if you could overcome the Super 8mm spindles issue. The attempted use of this projector on Standard 8mm film would result in damage to the film by the claw.

You could fit a 1 pin claw from a dual machine and then it would be Ok to play both guages.

Eumig 800 series dedicated Super 8 projectors are very good for playing old super 8 film because the pulldown load on the film is spread over 2 frames so it's much kinder on delicate old film. Make sure its always Super 8mm film that you put through it.
