I have just had the bargain of a lifetime. I noticed a Eumig 810D listed on Ebay UK as spares or repair. The seller said he had tested the machine briefly and the lamp lit, and reels went round but as the master switch was loose, the unit was not operable. As I have a Eumig 807D, a very similar machine, I thought it was worth a small bid. If I couldn't make the projector work, I would at least have a parts machine. I was the only bidder at 99p. The projector arrived today and I've been having a play with it. The switch was easy to fix, with just a piece of strong tape. Next I found the lamp wouldn't light, so I replaced the bulb, and all lit up perfectly. Although the projector would run at 18fps, it quickly ground to a halt when switched to 24fps. A quick roughing-up of the rubber disc drive, and an hour or so running in to get things moving freely, and Voila! a 100% working 810D for 99p plus postage. I hope the seller isn't a member here as I feel I've stolen it from him!

I've got an example of a disgusting deal that I unfrotauntely missed out on......there was another post this week about Elmo GS1200's...someone mentioned there was one available for $600+ and I asked if they are really worth that. I was quickly reffered to a history of GS1200 sales and the average price indeed was certainly beyond $600. I checked ebay myself and saw several listed in the $2000-$4000 range (even though they will never sell for that)! I couldn't belive it lol.
Now here is the sad part. I found one maybe 2 or 3 days ago in my local market in a classifieds posting. There was no asking price just "will consider reasonable offers"... I emailed without any response. So yesterday I called the seller and asked if it was still for sale and unfortunately it had been sold....of course I had to ask how much he sold it for and he said $200......
I guess it's a lesson learn for me because I have been lax about scanning my local market the last month because I only have so much space in the man-cave and I'm up to 7 or 8 projectors; so I have not been actively seeking or buying them for a couple weeks; and sure enough a deal like this happens and I missed out...

Adam, is that the one in Ottawa?
If yes, I spot that one too in Kijiji, but as you said it has been sold. But I did not know that it was sold for $200!
Again, I have to tell anyone here that do not underestimate local classifieds (online or paper) as there are many old fellows who no longer used those machines and would like to sell for any price.
I once also bought from Kijiji Ottawa (mind you I am in Toronto) a GS-800 for $125 in a box just because the seller only listed as "a 8mm projector". As usual, the story of this finding is shared in this forum.
Also from Kijiji Kingstown, I bought a whole set movie making-editing-projecting (Euming 610D) gangs for $55. Also the story is in this forum.
This is not to mention a ST-800 in a box, tons of films + projectors, etc, etc got from local classified.
So my rule of thumb is using Ebay for selling and classifieds for buying.
It will fund and be fun of your hobby !
cheers,

Nice find John!!! Deals are out there...it's just being at the right place at the right time
I just bought a 810D for a very low price...I'm waiting for it to be shipped. I'm just crossing my fingers that it has the gates and that the motor runs. The seller could not give me any info on it so it's a shot in the dark. Does the 810D take the standard 3-prong computer cord?
