Hi everyone, new here, but I've been reading thru the forum alllll day,
I work at a school, yesterday our Elmo SC-18 stopped running. It was working fine the last few weeks, (Our Elmo ST-180E stopped working also,- its been modified for telecine, but that happened before I started here, so I'll stick to one problem at a time,)
It's used, 2-3 times a month I'd say, when school is in session anyway. Belts were replaced last year, and I know it was serviced around then too.
The light works, but no forward or reverse motion, the motor does nothing, the belts are intact, in good shape. The fuses all look fine, and I replaced them just to be sure.
I have a multimeter, and would like to do what I can myself, - the more money we save the more we can spend on other equipment. Plus, I'd like to learn a few things.
I'm not quite sure where to start,.....but I did test a couple outlets here,..they all come in just under 125v, one was 120 one was 124, ...all are within that range.
The detachable power cord, Im sure isn't the original, is 10a 125v. The back of the projector says Ac 115v 60Hz 200w, Lamp 12c 100w, AMP. output 3w. (4ohm) With the back removed, just above the 3 pronged inlet, is a round plug/dial, ...set to 115v, this can be removed, and rotated for different voltages.
I don't see any thing. burn marks, etc on any of the boards, and Ive tried changing the speed switch too.
Anything particular I should test with the mulitmeter? What should I suspect first? A service manual would be handy,
any advice would be appreciated, thanks, JC
