I am thinking of buying and see a bunch on ebay and was wondering is Bell and Howell Filmosonic 8mm sound projector a good model to buy and reliable. Before when I was collecting 16mm Bell and Howells were known to shred film

Hi Brian, I bought a B&H Filmosonic super 8 projector brand new back in 1975. It was terrible on film! I'd steer clear, just my opinion from experience....

I think forum members will back me on the following Super 8 sound projectors.

- Elmo ST-1200, any model, some do magnetic no optical sound
- Eumig 810D, 802D, 824 (best in a way because these can play both small gauge formats with sound)
- Eumig 820 models (Super 8 with good quality sound)
- Bolex SM-8, SP-80
- Sankyo 800 is supposedly nice too

Read more about these projectors here: Link .

Other members will chime in with corrections/suggestions.

Brian most Sears units were made by B&H for them much like the washers & dryers mostly one manufacturer makes them for a variety of company's The ELMO's would be your best bet, Adam has an Elmo for sale on the 8mm equipment for sale.
