Welcome Flo...I have a very nice Vernon 808 Dual 8 Editor that I'm selling. It is in excellent condition and it has a large picture that is bright and clear.
I live just down the peninsula from you in Sunnyvale. I will PM you.

I have a Vernon Dual 8 film editor that is badly in need of cleaning, and don't know where to begin. It looks like the first step is to separate the front section (black) from the rear section (grey) by removing those very small screws. Once that is done, I'm assuming I will find a mirror (or two) that can be cleaned. Any help will be appreciated. Larry Rood

Hi Richard and welcome to the Forum!
I've cleaned many viewers. There are different versions of Vernon Editors so without a picture I can only give you some generic advice.
If yours has a name-plate in the front. You can remove it by unscrewing the 2 small screws. Behind the name-plate there will be a couple of small mirrors you can clean. Be careful not to move the mirrors...they are set at a particular angle aimed at the lens.
There is one large mirror on the inside back. Again...not knowing what your model is...I remember unscrewing a large screw at the top back and I think there were a couple of screws on the bottom underneath part of the viewer.
If none of this make any sense to your model...post a pick.
Once the back is off in addition to cleaning the mirror...you can clean the viewer glass and frosted panel.
