Hi. I just picked up a used 2000H for a very reasonable price. I have another one and like it so I got this one for back-up. It works fine except if I put it in reverse while running film. When I do, the picture is all jittery. Acts like the claw is not engaging. Any ideas what the problem and fix might be? Thanks in advance for any help.

Barry...usually the complaint with this machine is just the opposite....jitters in forward and smooth sailing in reverse [Smile]

Inspect the claw to see if something isn't bent. Have you tried lubing it? Also just letting it run in reverse for a period of time might loosen things up a bit. Especially if the machine hasn't been used in a long while. Best to start simple and leave the more drastic tactics for Plan B.

Thanks Janice. No I have not tried lubing it. I'm not sure where it would be lubed.

Update: I just ran it for a while checking the claw movement. Claw movement seems good. Threaded a film and tried it in reverse once again. Noticed that the problem is that the upper loop disappears right away in reverse. Don't know what is causing the upper loop to go flat like it is.

Well at least you discovered the cause. Could be something in the lower path. You might want to compare the movement with your other working projector.

Perhaps Dogtor Frank will see this thread and have a suggestion.

Hello Fritz,

Be careful if you decide to lubricate this projector. Sankyo addresses this issue in the last paragraph on page 19 of the Sankyo 2000H user's manual which reads:

The Sankyo dualux 2000H has plastic and oil-less bearings at all vital friction points, eliminating the need for lubrication!

Thanks John. I read that in the manual. Most of the projectors from the 70s on are that way.

The problem is that the upper roller is not disengaging in reverse like it should. I have started another thread to try and fix the issue.

I have just replaced a belt on a Sankyo 2000H Dualux but for some reason the reels are not turning. Here is a video of it running http://youtu.be/olRjiNp_pJQ Any advice gratefully accepted.

I'm not sure why that is happening. You might get a better response if you start a new thread concerning your problem. I'd title it; "Sankyo Dualux 2000H spindles not turning" or something similar. Where they working before you replaced the belt?
