Hello, I own the Bolex 18-5L Super 8 version. It works but I was wondering if anyone has any insight into lubing it and could maybe give me a pretty specific checklist of things I can do to make sure it is running at its best for years to come. Assume any lubrication has probably dried out on my unit as I don't know when it was last serviced. What do I lube? How do I get at it? What should I avoid that can be done on accident? Also, any best practices as far as cleaning the film path and lens.

Worked for me Gus. Most of what is in that article is fine. I don't know what is up with the Lemon Pledge, I have never used it. Also, 3 in 1 oil is generally not recommended by anyone that repairs projectors. I like Zoom turbine oil. Your Bolex does not have in Lub holes. What I would recommend is removing the back and checking the gears. Remove any old grease and regrease with Super Lube synthetic grease or white lithium grease. Do not over grease. Zoom and Super Lube are available at Ace Hardware stores and many other places online and in other stores. As far as the film gate goes, a fine brush up and down it and then a little alcohol on a cotton swab should do the trick. The Bolex is a wonderful machine. Do you have the version with the Spaceman bulb?
