My self, honestly, of the proper releases, non at all except a few optical sort of new/ex airline ones they sourced.

But I did buy an aweful lot of trailers new over the years.

Best Mark.

I think two : The Wizard Of Oz and An American In Paris. You could pay in six times.

I did used to buy from their second hand lists it has to be said as their feature prices tended to be out of reach for me back then with having far more pressing things my money was assigned to in those days.

I did however buy Mary Poppins brand new when they offered the pay later scheme. It took me 6 months to completely pay it off but back then I was also buying a fair amount of Super 8mm Sound camera stock which was never cheap.

I had around 30 features by the time I sold them all back to Derann.
I also had quite a lot of abridged features and 2x400ft universal prints that I bought new.
All of my collection back then was either purchased solely from Derann or from an earlier time from Jubilee Film Services.

I have a couple of white box specials of Romancing The Stone reels 1 and 4. They both contain a certain amount of white flecks from the negative but otherwise are ok. The colour grading and condition otherwise is very good.

So my question to Brian and Tom is this...

On the last reel, there is a section in the film where they are in a cave, despite the colour and grading being apparently spot on, this section is so dark that the image even without a scope lens is barely visible on any machine other than the Beaulieu on two shutter mode.

Are they all like this?
This has kind of put me off really ever pursuing the missing reels or indeed finding a complete feature and keeping my odd reels as spares.

It's a film I like and it would reinstall my faith in it on 8 if I thought that mine was a one off.

Fabulous selection of films. Once again, some wonderful titles there Paul including a few of my favourite musicals.

Musicals are just so very repeatable in my book, I just love em!

I can feel a "My Secret Love" moment coming on [Big Grin]

I've sold many on, but from memory;

The Lion King.
Aladdin.
Cinderella.
The Aristocats.
Sleeping Beauty.
The Sword in the Stone.
Beauty and the Beast.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Star Wars.
Raiders of the Lost Ark (legend has it Derann sound striped these early copies from Germany).
Star Trek Generations (an "import"!!).
Aliens.
The Terminator.
Terminator II.
Predator.
Speed.
Jack the Giant Killer.
Forbidden Planet.
The African Queen.
The Curse of Frankenstein.
The Reptile.

Not forgetting my treasured 2 x 600ft Gremlins which was my Christmas present when I was 15.

I think that's it, but my memory isn't what it used to be!!

Also, lots of shorts and a collection of about 200 trailers!

So who actually purchased all of these second hand prints as brand new prints seeing as it wasn't many of us on here it would seem?

Maybe Derann just threw a couple of brand new ones straight onto the second hand lists almost immediately if they were having a bad couple of months with sales! [Big Grin]

Surely Lee must have purchased quite a lot of brand new features back in the day? Any others on here who purchased plenty?

Keith's Aladdins cave never ceases to amaze me!

One look at Keith's collection both past and present and you simply cannot help but be smitten for life with S8 film!

His list is of titles is simply incredible!!!

Definitely a kid in a sweet shop moment when viewed! [Smile]

David appears to be leading the way in actual new feature films purchased in the actual era they were released.

I had never heard of Derann before the internet, so I arrived late to the party. In 2000, I received an email from my credit card company telling me my credit limit had increased; the very next email was news that Derann was having a 20% discount sale on new prints. I purchased THE WIZARD OF OZ, HELLO DOLLY, THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, and DIE HARD all in a single order. That was my first and last purchase of new prints from Derann (which is fine, because those were the only titles I really wanted).

I think there is a little confusion here. Are we talking buying Derann releases (F/L) or buying FROM Derann....??

For the later I don't see any point here, because we can buy them from any dealers.
