I recently acquired family 8mm and super 8 films and a 465 projector. The projector seems to run well but the take up reel is not rotating. I have taken the screws out but the input reel stops me from removing the casing so I can determine what is not working. Is there a way to remove it?

Hi Jim!
Welcome to the 8mm Forum!
This is the second Moviedeck question in about a week, which is well above average.
I remember the take-up reel being very lightly clutched because of the tremendous difference in speed between auto threading and then the end of take-up a full 400' reel.
I could imagine some debris getting under the reel and keeping it from turning.
Try this:
Put a folded towel or blanket on the table so you can put the machine upside down without damaging the cover.
Use a coin to open up the reel cover.
Push the latch aside an remove the take-up reel, so if there is anything in between the reel and the chassis.
Turn the machine on and see if the empty shaft will turn.
If not? Maybe there's a belt inside.
