Hello all. I have seen this 2x400 set of 6 Disney cartoons pop up on eBay from time to time, but no one who is selling it has ever specified whether or not it is a Sound or Silent release. The box art does nothing to help. Does anyone own this who could provide insight? And on Disney releases in general when it came to Sound vs. Silent?

Dave, if you find these below titles, they are all COLOR and SOUND:
635 Cartoon Parade #2 (400ft Snd)
636 Mickeys Memorable Moments (400ft Snd)
637 Donald Ducks Dilemmas (400ft Snd)
638 Goofys Golden Gags (400ft Snd)
639 Plutos Playful Pranks (400ft Snd)
640 Disneys Greatest Chases (400ft Snd)
641 Mickey Mouse: The First fifty Years (400ft Snd)
642 A Walt Disney Christmas (400ft Snd)
643 Mickeys Memorable Moments Vol. II (400ft Snd)
644 Donald Ducks Dilemmas Vol. II (400ft Snd)
645 Goofys Golden Gags Vol. II (400ft Snd)
ps: each 400' contains 5 stories except for "the first fifty years" which is a compilation of clips through the history of Walt Disney. Also for 640 Disneys Greatest Chases has 4 stories.
But there are 3 reels that always silent as the below thread:
Do they available in color and sound?
They are all 400' (color/bw) but only have 2 stories each.
When Disney ceased their 8mm business, someone was selling this with strip added...so came with sound. But this is very rare.

My bet is that they are silent. If they were sound it would normally state this, furthermore, there doesn't appear to show a magnetic stripe on the films.

Dave,
We have once compiled the Disney super 8mm complete list with the cat#.
Walt Disney super 8mm complete list
Unfortunatelly your listing does not show the cat#, so I cannot find. But by observing the last 2 pictures I can guess it is silent. For sound movies the side of film will be brownish as magnetic stripe is. The two reels in your listing are greyish. So as Maurice says, no sound stripe.
Hope that helps.
Btw from my listing 5 stories compilation above, I missed one:
652 Disneys Cartoon Classics Vol.I (ps: vol 2 never existed
)
and "Goofy Over Sports" (cat# is not known)
For the compilation of 5 stories above, I have made a thread here: Disneys 5 stories highlight on 400"
Cheers,

Hi Dave. I have this collection, and it is indeed black & white and silent. I will look for it and report back which cartoons are included, but I seem to remember there are at least some titles that were never released by WDHM in a single reel.
Just found it! It includes six cartoons on 2 400' reels which can easily be combined on 1 600' reel (about 525 feet total). Titles included in this collection are "Mickey & The Seal," "Bearly Asleep" (w/Donald Duck), "Lighthouse Keeping" (w/Donald), "Wonder Dog Pluto," "Test Pilot Donald," and "Tiger Trouble" (w/Goofy). "Tiger Trouble" was released by WDHM as a color/sound single in their last round of releases in 1979/80.
I hope this info helps.
