My film transfer process has matured over the past 9 years and I've pretty much settled on HD frame by frame captures for both 8mm and 16mm. i'm using the original frame by frame machines made by MovieStuff. MovieStuff's new product line has gone way beyond the original modifed projectors they sold...but I'm still very happy with the results from their old equipment and the prices have come down to something I can afford
My original 8mm Workprinter setup looked like this..I captured in SD and the results were excellent compared to any of my realtime transfers.
Today I'm using a SSD drive... BlackMagic Intensity Pro PCIe capture card...and capturing frames directly off the gate. Although this configuration requires additional hardware and software... it takes up less space and is easier and faster to setup.
Here's a short video demo of my 8mm setup in action: https://youtu.be/Kc2615MSLaI
Here's a link to my 16mm setup https://youtu.be/6TL9GU83nwM
