Are we really up to number 19? Astounding!
A weekend of film. That's really what the CineSea gathering is....A weekend packed with talking about, watching, buying, selling, trading film and film equipment in gauges from 8mm to 35mm. A weekend of hanging out with fellow film collectors. A weekend of sharing your favorite films and film stories while trying to fit in as many group meals as possible!
That was the basic idea John Black & Shorty Caruso had when they held the first CineSea in 2009. Have an affordable show (There is no charge for admission) where collectors can get together and enjoy this wonderful hobby. Ten years later, CineSea has become a much anticipated event, with collectors traveling impressive distances to attend. If you have film or equipment to sell, 6 foot dealer tables are available for only $20. You can rent as many as you like. Lou Franchetti and his son Louis will be there with stacks of 8mm and 16mm. To reserve a table you can email/PM myself or Lou. At the last two events we couldn't squeeze any more dealer tables in, so please let us know soon if you'd like to get one.
We start with the Friday Night Feature screening on the evening of April 26th. If you're going to join us and have a feature print you'd really like to show, we'll soon be asking you to list the title/format here and we'll have an online survey to pick the winner. Gary Sloan's 16mm print of Psycho was the winner last time and it was a big hit.
The Saturday show starts at 10 AM and many, many projectors will be running non-stop and many, many films will trade hands right up to the group dinner. Upon our return we start our Saturday night screenings, which have run as late as 2 AM. Bring what you'd like to show (under 20 minutes, please!).
Remember, we have a beautiful beach right across the street. You can take a break from watching films and stroll along the boardwalk.
Recently, more and more people have been arriving on Thursday to help set up, go out to dinner and then screen whatever we feel like! If you can make it a day early, please come!
Please make your reservations soon at:
The Ocean Holiday Resort 6501 Ocean Avenue Wildwood Crest, NJ 08260 609-729-2900 (mention "Film Show" to receive special rate of $65.00 per room) Reserve early to get Oceanfront rooms with private balconies!
