Thanks to the invaluable help and advice of forum members I have been able to restore my previously 'dead' GS1200 to full operating condition. In fact it is now performing just like new with rock steady projection and great stereo sound, better than it has been in years. So great to have this wonderful projector back in service.
Here is a summary of the repairs that were carried out:

Symptom: Take up motor not rotating in FWD projection
Main Control Board
Replaced large Matsushita relay NC4D-P-DC12V. Replaced rectifiers 1B2Z1 and IB2C1. Cleaned and sprayed all board interface contacts.

Symptom: Projector blows 3A main fuse on power up, no motors running
Motor Governor Board
Replaced the entire board due to failure of the NEC UPC1002C

Symptom: Excessive RFI noise through audio playback
BLOWER MOTOR Replaced broken inductor on blower motor with a 100 microfarad ferrite inductor

Symptom; Rewind slow and weak
Adjusted the lever position of both re-wind microswitches.

Sympton: Lamp does not reliably turn on
Replaced microswitch #6 fig 41 at lamp switch location.

Also:
Front cover hinge
Repaired the hinge pin which had broken away from the amplifier cover

In addition I sprayed all the switches with electrolube.

Compliments on having the dedication and skill (even with Forum expertise) to pull all of that off. It would probably have taken me about 15 years to complete!

So the spare parts you mentioned above are widely available in the market or need to go to specified stores?

I had to farm out the soldering of the circuit board components. I can get by soldering motor wires and the like, but the board components, such as the big Matsushita relay, have extremely close pins and need a microscope and very steady hand for the precision soldering operation. You have to know your limits!
Leon can supply some of these components, and FFR in Germany can also supply new updated versions of the governor board.
I am really indebted to Phil Murat, Thomas Knappstein, Leon Norris, Stuart Finklestein, for their help and support. Could'nt have done it without them.

Hi Paul!
Nice to hear that your machine is coming back to life. I think, the original Main Motor is the key. This Matsushita Motors if they get older and dirtyer can need to much Amperes. It´s too much for the Rectifiers and some other Components on the main Board. I have changed this Motor to a german DUNKERMOTOR GR 42x40 24V 3100U/min. This are ball bearing Motors. Sometimes you can find them on Ebay. I´ve got four GS machines running with this Motors over 10Years now. No Problems over the time. The only Problem is you need the Generator Coil from the old Motor or a assembling by a Segment Disc with opto Coupler.
