NOW SOLD That was quick! [Eek!]

I have the full feature of Close Encounters of the Third kind for sale. I bought this from Derann many years ago and understand this is now a rare print.

I have the original boxes and spools, although the film is now on 1200ft reels.

It has been projected probably no more than about 5 times, and until it was re-spooled on to 1200ft reels it was only shown on my Sankyo Stereo 800. After re-spooling it was shown probably once or twice on my GS 1200 which has had the Wilton update to the rollers and film path to prevent scratching.

I am asking £900

I can now only assume that Mike will no longer be attending the annual assembly of the lucky 14 (give or take a few) who own Super 8 feature prints of Close Encounters. We'll miss Mike, however we look forward to meeting our newest associate. I believe Ricky Daniels had suggested the next gathering be held in Atiu, part of the Cook Islands. I think Kevin F. seconded the motion. Screening on the beach!

Doug, I'm very sorry I never got to one of those exclusive gatherings [Wink]

. As of Monday, my copy will be winging it's way to Continental Europe, the new owner appears very happy with his purchase, so it looks as though you have an enthusiastic new member of the Close Encounter club!

I'm glad it's going to be enjoyed, it's been sitting in a cupboard for far too long.

You may be a member of the lucky 14 who own "Close Encounters of the Third KInd: Special Edition" (which was what Derann sold)

... but I'M in the group of the "LUCKY 1#" who owns a copy of the original "Close Encouters of the Third Kind" original 1977 version, scope as, unless someone else pops up with a print of the 1977 version, I believe that I'm the only one who has it.

However, I must admit, I'd love to have the last portion when you go inside the Mothership ...

I have a print of CE3K-Special Edition that was re-recorded into German. I had it re-recorded back to English. It is a magnificent print and I know who got it will be very, very happy.

Osi-I would love to have the part where Neary goes crazy and starts throwing dirt, plants, etc. into his house. I miss that part. It really doesn't make sense that his wife left the way she did without that part.

There were actually about 60 prints if this sold, over 30 went straight to Germany when released. Still rarely turns up for sale though.

Not so Ricky, it's just that I used to buy loads of features at one time, and so have quite a collection now. The thing is I never watch them, when I do get the super 8 projector out now, it tends to be to watch the movies I made myself and then some short subjects. I have a lot of digests and these I find fit in to my viewing habits far better than feature films these days.

Selling some of my features has released some money for me to do restoration work on my VWs. I get a lot of pleasure from them and the money spent tends to be well invested, so it just seems to make sense at the moment.

I have to say, I've enjoyed being part of this community again since I re-started posting.

Hi Mike,
That's good to read. I know where you are coming from, I too have a Classic Car habit and what better way to fund it than to release some of those sort after features for fellow collector to enjoy and fund your other hobbies in the process. After all there are only so many hours in a day.
