Hello, selling a Marketing release abridged version on 4 x 400 of the John Guillermin (of Towering Inferno fame) 1976 version of KING KONG. Very nice masked print of the film, well edited. Dialogue is in German, music and sound fx's are international. I bought the print 1. because its rare and 2, I was going to rerecord the sound into english but could'nt find a cheap way to sync my GS1200 with the audio source. It comes in its mint original boxes and the print is very good. Asking just £45.00 plus shipping. Thanks for looking in.

Mark, I redubbed the film some years ago. The original digital file is lost but the print was sold to forum member Lance Alspaugh, so there's an english stereo track out there. Perhaps you can work something out with him.

That's a very fair price for an extremely rare item. Perhaps there were others in Germany, but I think that's the first time I've heard of a Marketing 4 x 400' abridged version.

I am now the proud owner of Lance's print. Jean-Marc, thank you for the excellent re-recording. This really is the best way to see this movie. As I said before, I can think of only a few titles that would benefit more from cutting out half the film.

Cheers Guys, I actually prefer this version to Jacksons version. I felt Rick Bakers performance offered more character to Kong. Tho I do fully respect Andy Serkis' interpretation, he's a fine actor. Bakers performance being analogue was more truthful to me than the digital capture etc etc.

The Guillermin version is great in the fact that the actual 50' mechanical Kong (used at the Petrox opening in NY)looks nothing like Bakers suited Kong. And the 50' Kong was made in two parts, left and right. An American team buit one side, an Italian team (under Carlo Rambaldi) built the other side, and due to lanquage problems they both built the same side, d'oh!!!!
