As ive already said, at the end of the day it is buisness so bollocks to the collector, its ok saying make a bid but im pretty sure normal collectors wont pay twat sums of money for a movie, as for making it easier to control??? After all these years of lists?? its the dosh,i have to say i would do the same & if my collection were to ever go up for sale, well, let me think, would i sell on here and get the collectors rates, (including mine) or would i put the cream on ebay and hopw to get stupid money, its a no brainer.

Be interesting to see if you get any takers on here with that However, here is my Controversial view on all this, i think, (apart from the social aspect of meeting other collectors), ebay and its use by dealers and i repeat, i dont blame them at all, will bring the early end to Ealing and the likes because the way im thinking now is this, if you ,make the effort to go, rest assured that unless your lucky all the decent titles you want wont be there, they will be back at the house either be waiting to be listed on ebay or already on it and what will appear at the conventions will be the stuff thats common or what they couldnt list or simply the crap of the pile. Oddley enough a conversation i had with Phil @ CHC some months ago he did say he'd never use ebay, , clearly the rewards are too tempting

Hey! Did you buy yours on the first day it was out Rob?
The print I own was from the first day of release from Derann, and the lovely thing was even signed (the box) by David Prowse himself! (Darth Vader), as he was there for the first day release.
Yes, that first run of prints are truly sparkling! I think the earlier runs had a slightly greenish cast to the color, where the later runs, though still lovely, had a more bluish cast to the color. I sold a later print of STAR WARS and while, still lovely, certainly had more flecks to the image and was bluish in color (not a heavy bluishness, but it was slightly noticeable to an "anal" collector like me).
The slightly greenishness to the color really plays out the the facial tones which are far more accurate with the greenish color over the bluish color, which makes the faces look, well "cold".

Yes, I bought it first print run at Keith Wilton's fabulous 1989 British Film Collectors Convention; I was 18.
Colour is lovely.
Part 2 was returned to Derann because it had too much "sparkle".
I spoke directly with Derek and he assured me it was a lab fault.
A replacement had a slight scratch - I wasn't giving up easily and so a third replacement was requested and was perfect.
In 1989, I couldn't really afford a stereo print (a whole £30.00 more!!), so in the late 90's, I personally handed it over to Ged Jones at Derann, to be re-recorded into stereo from their masters.
There was a slight glitch in Derann's master (mono and stereo); drop-out and wow for a few moments as Luke & Ben leave the devastated Sandcrawler and head to Mos Eisley (Osi, I bet you are aware of this one!).
I carefully restored the fault using a Goko recoding editor.
I love this print.
But, I need to fund other things these days...and I'm serious; £2,800 and you may have it.
