By sheer coincidence this same bidder bid against a film I was bidding on and won.

[URL=http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&_trksid=p4340.l2565&item=160606610543]http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&_trksid=p4340.l2565&item=160606610543[/UR L]

So I think he is a film buff. That was one of Ian's auctions.

There's a print of "High Society" on Ebay UK, buy it now for 350 GBP.... wonder if that seller's the buyer from the bargain basement?

Does anyone out there want to part with ESB or ROTJ prints? I would love to get a hold of any of these!

Jedi turns up here and on Ebay occasionally. I think I've seen a listing for Empire once on here, and maybe once on Ebay in the past few years. Rare that you see that one.

I guess I can stop rolling those quarters. LOL

Is this a record? Has anyone seen a print go higher than this for Star Wars?

I think this is a scandal, even being a Star Wars fan I think the price is excessive and worst of all people will now want such a ridiculous price for it, sorry but I think it is not worth it. I am not 100% sure but a 35mm print is around 2000 USD.

If you look at this link, you can see the guy listed the auction before but was flagged. Look at the pictures of the print. I wouldn't have paid $1825 for it. Thats just me.

I think Larry has two prints, and I'm not sure, but I think the one that just sold is in a little better shape than this one.

We will probably see some copies come out of collections over this sale. They won't all go this high, more than likely, but I'd certainly like the opportunity to get a copy for sure.

Maybe Derann will pay attention and contract services with that lab in Germany. New prints are still desirable.

Yes, new prints would be great! Think we can get enough people together to make it happen?

I'd buy one at a fair cost, for sure. I'm unsure if they have the negative or source print any longer. They may have worn out, and I doubt Fox will issue an original version to them, with the grip that Lucas likes to have on his property.

The negatives Derann used are long since worn out.

From previous discussions it seems that first print runs might be the ones to look for as later copies apparently already show negative problems. Star Wars was withdrawn because of negative wear / damage...think I'll hold on to mine!

So you'd need a new 16mm negative made to start with...hmmm...not likely these days sadly [Frown]

We've seen this eBay print listing before!
Did this ever actually sell for $1,825?
With 3 listings it has become a trilogy all of it's own!
So what IS the story? [Confused] [Confused]

Just goes to show that when you find a buyer who REALLY wants something and has the money to fight a bidding war, anything can happen. I bought my mint Star Wars with Lance's stereo re-recording three years ago for $250 dollars. I wouldn't sell it for any amount unless desperate.

If that Star Wars print doesn't have those green scrtach throughout, and just appearing for a short time, then that 300.00 dollar price tage is an OK price. I don't think we'll see the likes of 1,800 for another STAR WARS.

Now, if I was to ever put my first day print signed by David "Darth Vader" Prowse autographed print up on ebay, it might get up there!

(disclaimor: I am not selling my print!) [Smile]

Still confused [Confused]

We've seen that exact same listing (pictures, description and seller) on eBay 3 times now so what's the story behind the legendary $1,850 sale... did it actually ever sell on that occasion? [Frown]

I just checked the original listing which states that there is the occasional green emulsion scratch. However, in the relist it says this line is there throughout most of the reel.
Possibly, the original buyer was a little unhappy with the original description when he viewed his $1800 print with a lot more green than he was lead to believe??

I talked to the seller. Apparently he had two copies. This one was not in as good of shape as the one he sold for $1800...

Thats possible.

Sometimes I will see the very same screenshots on other peoples auctions. It;s dishonest, but some folks will take other peoples screenshots and try to pass of thier own prints as AS GOOD as the screenshots they are using. I remember seeing the very same faded screenshots from an "Empire Strikes Back part 1" print on FOUR different auctions.

WEll, lets just say that they were four different sellers. Perhaps it was one seller with four identities? That is marginally possible.

Maybe that person with ther STAR WARS feature got it returned to him by the person who bought it and he was reselling his own print again.

... and yes, that sale of over 1,800 dollars was no myth, as I know the fellow quite well who sold it sucessfully.
