Hey folks ...
Though the buyer of those prints who put them up on ebay can answer for themselves, lets make something very clear ...
Once those films are sold, no one, and I mean NO ONE, not even the seller of those prints, has the right to bi**h about what is done with those prints (or any object).
Some folks make they're living by buying and reselling prints and there is absolutely nothing wrong with a person doing so.
I just got rather peeved when I read that snippy comment about "greed bay". Though it has it's problems, "Greed bay" is an absolutely honorable place to buy OR sell things.
I stand by these comments and though I'm not the buyer who placed them on ebay, I stand by his/her right to do so.
(ought to be interesting to see how well those pinky prints sell. If the buyer of those could, could they please send me an e-mail with a link.)

I agree, I mean no one likes losing out on a bargain, or even a print they really wanted, but then again no one really likes losing period, and I think that is what happens in these cases, someone beat someone else to the punch and once that happens it has to be..... "next!", and start looking for the next bargain and hope this time you are first.....I have had some steals in my life, and some frustrations, but that is part of the game, that ain't gonna change, and ebay is a godsend because it puts a worldwide film store at your fingertips 24 hours a day....

Look,I'm not bashing ANYONE! I am however bashing the system, which sorry boys,I don't like. I grew up aroung real collectors, dealers were people who got films from sources that weren't available to me.Were there questionable dealers?Of course there were, but I think if you ask any collector who has collected before ebay, they would say the change is not for the better. When you have the "dealer" and collector fighting for the same film,it;s just not real fair.I've bought a bit on ebay, had good deals and been misled on prints too many times. As I had said before,if the "dealers" were a tad more honest on print quality,it would improve things greatly. If someone says a print has a couple splices,it shouldn't mean over 30! Understand something,I love this hobby, grew up with it and dealt with dealers who loved it too,but now too many people who once dealt in pogs, baseball cards, etc, have got into film solely for profit.I just don't have the time for them,as film collecting is now a VERY specialised hobby with a finate amount of product,we should work together, not try to be in film only for profit.THAt is not a collector.I hope there might be a little more understanding in what I'm trying to say.I was not involved in buying online for many years, not until a couple of years ago,did I find all this. But,ponder this, wouldn't it be fun to once a month get a Yahoo room and make a weekend film convention online.Collectors could list films from their collection to sell and swap.Being in a Yahoo room,we can all chat online while doing it.It would bring a little personal feel to hobby that is greatly missing.Just an idea.

Again I just want to add that while I always want to get a print as affordable as I can, and use ebay (my wife might say 'abuse' ebay) to find the stuff i can't find otherwise. the snatching up of deals and reselling is simply free enterprise... Ever try to buy a ticket to a concert or sporting event? the good ones are at the resellers....Ever wonder how people get those massive collections where it works out to like pennies per print? Its cuz they have the money to buy 1000 prints at one time, and usually the only way is because they are gonna resell em and that is how they.....I would love to be involved with this hobby and have everyone only buy and acquire the prints they want to keep, but it doesn't work that way... Everybody is different..Some guys want a massive collection to call their own, other want to watch a print once and then get a different one...I recently offered up some copies of a trailer for a small charge and I simply told the first person who stated they'd like them all that I really wanted them to go to people who would want them and be able to get some enjoyment out of them so would they mind only taking one....They were polite and said sure....We are all nice folks on here, but just have different views on things which extend beyond whether we like disney cartoons or fleischer, or both, etc.... Imagine the fights we could get into if it were the "8MM & POLITICAL VIEWS FORUM" . I think the point is everyone has a right to like or dislike the practice of reselling, but just go about expressing it without the cost of hurting someones feelings just because they see it differently.....That is why I love this forum so much more than some others because it isn't plagued by the name-calling and aggro-bashing.....Once that starts it is really all too easy to find yourself right in there with em, without even realizing it....Spread the love of the medium man

Well put Kevin ...
I have noticed that there has been a a number of vicious diatribes on this forum which is actually very unlike our forum ...
(I bet another certain film forum is rubbing thier hands together gleefully at our dissension in the ranks, giggle!)
... and in either case it was one person who was miffed taking it out on another, when there was blame on both sides, or just being peeved that they weren't the first to the deal.
I should hope that folks won't stop being generous. By the way, the person who lucked out on the Hoppity film and Tom and Jerry cartoon, has also offered many a free print on this forum. This person doesn't need my kudo's and can defend himself most admirably, but I thought I would defend, just the same.
Yes, it's OSI, defender of the good and just, fighting evil with his trusty sidekick ... Devin Osgood, Baby Boy Wonder!
