The Scored "Two Tars" was my very first Super-8 L&H and is also great. The only thing is there is a lot of shared music between this and "Tootin'" so they literally don't play well together!
I can't imagine "You're Darn Tootin'" completely silent. As a film about two musicians there's just something not right about that!
Then again "silent" films usually were shown theatrically with accompaniment anyway

Yeah Steve I'm with you on that because I just can't sit there and watch any silent short or movie without having sound! It's just too boring.

Ever since I got into Super-8 sound I've been puzzling what to do with my silents.
I thought playing music with them would do it, but found that the music influenced the mood too much. Considering that a lot of them are historic and railroad subjects (Non theatrical...) this doesn't work at all. They shoudn't be either happy or sad trains: just trains! Who wants to see Lindbergh crossing the Atlantic to a peppy little dance tune either?
My solution is to turn all the audio hardware off and play them seperately from the talkies.
-Let them be shown on their own merits without their talkative cousins butting in!
Works very well late at night when the rest of the house is asleep or even early in the morning on these short winter days.

What really made Tootn come alive for me...was the extra sound..the crashing of the instruments when they fall..etc. I'm surprised they didn't remake that one as a sound sometime down the line.
