Revue Film sold 3 400 foot Das Boot reels. They are excerpts from the feature.

How's your German?

(Mine is passable enough, especially since I also have the DVD with English!)

Piccolo film released the 3-parter (and 2 trailers on 1 reel) and the design of the boxes is great.
The cutdown is perfect and colours and sound are amazing.
If You gonna buy this cutdown ask for the condition: most of them (sadly mine too) do have a vinegar smell.

The packaging these come in is beautiful, but unfortunately almost perfectly air-tight. The vinegar smell from mine stunk up the entire room when I got them, but is down to basically nothing since I got them out of those cases.

Thanks a lot, actually the explanation for the 'vinegar' is quite clear.
Will try to open the eye on ebay if any..

There was a full feature (not the later directors cut) that was put out in Italy. I don't know as to how good the color held up, though.

Hi Jean,
Das Boot was out as a feature with optical sound (airline print)
I think with English Dubbing. I remember seeing a copy for sale on a Derann list a few years ago, phoned them but someone had beat me to it
bought Greystoke legend of Tarzan instead.
